Welcome to the Koorda Hotel

The Koorda Hotel stands proudly on the corner of Railway Street and Ninghan Road as one of the oldest buildings in town. The magnificent two storey building has a large balcony sweeping around the front which has been ideally suited for accommodation guests to enjoy town activity or the sunset and still is to this day.

Downstairs is the front bar, saloon, dining room and beer garden with a friendly and relaxed environment. Many patrons enjoy socialising in the beer garden while listening to music or the sports minded play pool, darts, giant Jenga or watch a game on TV.

The hotel was commissioned by James McCallum Smith, proprietor of the Sunday Times and owner of multiple properties including Koorda butchers shop, Drumin Farm and other farming properties which were later auctioned off in 1942 after his passing. The auction specified the hotel as “2 Storey Brick Building: 19 bedrooms, bathrooms, electric light, usual hotel outbuildings”.

James William Price laid the foundations of the hotel.

The wheatbelt town of Koorda has been served by the hotel since late October 1925. Located 236km east of Perth, the Koorda Hotel is still the only hotel of Koorda.

The original pub in Koorda was a tent which was replaced by the building that still stands today in 1925.
